Introduction
Confucius was our planet’s first self-help guru. His teachings were less about reasoned arguments like Socrates and the Greeks and more about alluding to how one might best react in various situations.

Main character

Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history. The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity.

Story

Confucius was born to a poor family of royal descent, grew up without a father, was raised by his mother, married early, had a son, then left home and over time ascended in class to become a trusted advisor to heads of state. His teachings were less about reasoned arguments like Socrates and the Greeks and more about alluding to how one might best react in various situations. Kongzi was our planet’s first self-help guru. Kong zi had three thousand students, but that only 72 mastered what he taught.

Quotes

性相近也,习相远也。By nature, men are nearly alike; by practice, they get to be wide apart.

过而不改,是谓过矣。Not to mend the fault one has made is to err indeed.

己所不欲,勿施于人。What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.

言必信,行必果。Keep what you say and carry out what you do.

Moral

People to become the best possible versions of themselves through a set of principles such as living with integrity and dignity, staying true to one’s personal values, being free from worries and fears, saying less and doing more and evaluating oneself against internal not external standards.

Confucius Schools

The first Confucian temple in Malaysia was built within a primary school known as Chung Hwa Confucian School (which has since split into SJK(C) Chung Hwa Confucian A, B and SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian) in Penang, in the early 20th Century. The building of the school was initiated by the Qing dynasty ambassador to the British Straits Settlement at that time. In those days parents in Penang brought their children to this temple for prayer before they began their schooling. The children prayed for excellence in their studies.

孔圣庙中华中学

Chung Hwa Confucian High School (孔圣庙中华中学) is a Chinese conforming (national-type) secondary school located in Green Lane, Penang, Malaysia. The school is one of the 10 Chinese secondary schools in Penang and also has a good record of co-curriculum and public examination results.

It is the only overseas Chinese School to be sanctioned by the Qing Dynasty Government of China, which officially presented it with royal seals bearing the school's name through its consulate and local businessman Cheong Fatt Tze, who is also credited with being the founder of the school.
